Public Advisory: Adverse Weather Anticipated

  • Justice and Public Safety

September 17, 2020

The Provincial Government is monitoring forecast information on an approaching weather system anticipated to affect parts of the province beginning tonight (Thursday, September 17).

Rainfall warnings have been issued for parts of central Newfoundland, the Avalon, Bonavista and Burin Peninsulas. Rain at times heavy, as much as 100 mm, is expected for several regions between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.

Due to the high amount of rain forecast and the potential of localized flooding, municipalities and local service districts should review their emergency management plans and ensure infrastructure such as roads, ditches and drains are clear of debris.

Residents and communities are asked to use caution and to take steps to ensure personal and public safety.
