Media Advisory: Minister Dempster to Participate in Purple Ribbon Flag Raising

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, will participate in a flag raising ceremony to recognize the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The event will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, November 25) at 11:00 a.m. at the courtesy flag pole in front of the Confederation Building, East Block.

Minister Dempster will be joined by Debbie Hibbs and Lisa Lake, the mothers of victims of gender-based violence.

Each year from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (World Human Rights Day), Newfoundland and Labrador observes the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Physical distancing and other public health guidelines will be in place for this event.
