June 2, 2021

In recognition of June as Seniors Month, nominations are now open for the 2021 Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors of Distinction Awards.

Individuals, groups and organizations are invited to nominate seniors to be recognized for their contributions and achievements throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The deadline for submissions is August 13, 2021.

The Seniors of Distinction Awards support the Provincial Government’s focus on helping all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians age in community. This includes helping seniors remain healthy, active, engaged citizens, living in their own homes and active in their age-friendly communities through a number of measures, including initiatives identified in Budget 2021.

To be eligible, a senior must be nominated by an individual or group, must be 50 years of age or older and be a current or past resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Seniors who have made notable contributions through paid or volunteer work activities may be nominated. Nominations from previous years will also be considered upon request by the nominator or nominee. Posthumous awards may also be given.

If you know a senior who should be recognized as a Senior of Distinction, I encourage you to nominate the individual for this prestigious award.”
