Rennies River Flood Mitigation                                                             (Reg. 2115)
Portugal Cove Road to King’s Bridge Road
Proponent: City of St. John’s

The City of St. John’s is proposing to construct two earthen berms and erosion control measures along the Rennies River, to reduce flooding and associated effects between Portugal Cove Road to King’s Bridge Road. Construction of the berms would include clearing of vegetation, grubbing organic matter, and earthworks. Construction of the bank stabilization would include vegetation clearing and placement of the new materials required to stabilize the bank. This undertaking is expected to occur over a six month period during spring/summer 2021.

The undertaking was registered on February 2, 2021; the deadline for public comments is March 10, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by March 19, 2021.

Whitbourne Residential Subdivision Extension                            (Reg. 2116)
Proponent: 51710 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited

The proponent proposes to develop a 20 lot residential subdivision within the Town of Whitbourne. The development would cover 11.09 hectares of Crown land and lots would range between 0.75 to 1.0 acre in size. This subdivision is proposed to connect with the proponent’s previous phases of residential development in Whitbourne.

The undertaking was registered on February 2, 2021; the deadline for public comments is March 10, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by March 19, 2021.

Cormack Snowmobile Trail Connection                                           (Reg. 2117)
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation
 

The proponent proposes to construct a new 800 metre snowmobile trail that would utilize a new underpass constructed under the Route 430 highway in Cormack. The underpass would facilitate safe crossing of the highway by snowmobilers and the new trail would allow connection to the existing trail network. Construction would consist of vegetation clearing and use of heavy equipment to build the trail base and install culverts. The trail would be maintained to the width of the existing roads where possible to allow safe operation of snowmobiles and groomers.

The undertaking was registered on February 3, 2021; the deadline for public comments is March 10, 2021; and, the minister’s decision is due by March 20, 2021.
