April 27, 2021

The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Education is reminding graduating high school students that nominations are being accepted for the 2021 Safe and Caring Schools Graduating Student Award. The deadline for submissions is May 1.

Each year, the Department of Education acknowledges the contributions of youth in establishing and maintaining safe and inclusive schools and communities by awarding a $500 tuition voucher for post-secondary education. Information about the award and the guidelines are available online here.

The Safe and Caring Schools Policy helps to establish school-based protocols and practices that challenge all forms of bullying, harassment, and inappropriate behaviour and create an environment of acceptance, belonging, respect and empathy.

The Provincial Government promotes an inclusive and welcoming school culture, where all members of the school community feel accepted, are able to realize their potential, and contribute to the school community.
