Minister Osborne Recognizes the Hard Work of Students and Educators as Summer Break Begins

The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Education congratulates students, teachers and staff across the province and wishes them a safe and enjoyable summer.

Minister Osborne is also encouraging people to nominate educators for two new awards to recognize teaching excellence: the Premier’s Award for Teaching Innovation and the Minister’s Award for Compassion in Teaching. The deadline for submissions is June 28, 2021. Teacher Award guidelines can be found here.

The 2021-22 K-12 school year starts on September 8, 2021. The Provincial Government is working closely with the school districts, public health officials and the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association on a full return to school for September, while keeping student and staff health and safety top of mind.
