Postponed Elections and Campaigning

  • Office of the Chief Electoral Officer

February 12, 2021

Political parties and candidates in Newfoundland and Labrador are advised that campaigning can continue after February 13, 2021 due to the postponement of voting for the 18 districts on the Avalon Peninsula. Campaigns may continue to advertise and fundraise after this date. The campaign expenditure limits remain the same.

The campaign advertising blackout period is in effect for campaigns in all districts on February 12 and February 13. A further blackout period will occur the day before the new polling date, and on the new polling date for the postponed districts.

Campaign filings are due four months after the date that polling takes place.
