Today, the Provincial Government released Health Accord NL’s interim report, “A Call to Action to Transform Health”.

To inform the report, co-chairs Dr. Patrick Parfrey and Sister Elizabeth Davis, along with six subcommittees, have been conducting public and targeted consultations on how we can improve health outcomes and on the social and economic factors that influence the health of residents.

The Health Accord NL Task Force has now completed the first phase of developing a 10-year Health Accord, including setting the overall vision and direction for the Accord. The interim report which contains the outcomes, the findings and more, can be found online here.

Health Accord NL was created in November 2020 to reimagine the health care system to best deliver services to meet the needs of people in communities across the province. It is mandated to deliver a 10-Year Health Accord with short, medium, and long-term goals for a health care system that better meets the needs of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

We created Health Accord NL to make certain that our health and social systems are working together in ways that lead to better health outcomes for people and families. I thank Health Accord NL for its interim report, and I look forward to the next steps and working with all stakeholders to improve the health and wellness of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”
Honourable Andrew Furey

We are grateful to Dr. Parfrey and Sister Davis and their committee members for volunteering their time to lead this important work, as well as the many people and groups who have shared their concerns and ideas over the past six months.
