The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the official opening of the new Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale.  Premier Furey was joined for the announcement by the Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services; Brian Warr, MHA for Baie Verte-Green Bay; and Donald Sturge, Chair of the Central Health Board of Trustees.

The Provincial Government has invested $19 million into the development of the new Green Bay Health Centre. At approximately 3,000 square metres, this modern facility includes an emergency department and a nine bed inpatient unit with a family lounge. The centre offers diagnostic, laboratory and rehabilitation services. There is office space for physician, community health, dietician, and women’s wellness clinics.

The centre builds on the progress being made on other health care infrastructure in Central Newfoundland, including two new 60-bed long-term care homes in Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor and an expanded 20-bed protective care unit in Botwood.
