The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is providing tree seedlings to youth groups and service organizations throughout the province to support community tree planting projects and events this summer.

Tree planting events present an opportunity to raise awareness about the value of our forest resources, while encouraging greater public participation in forest related activities, particularly among youth.

The department typically donates approximately 100,000 tree seedlings annually to community-based organizations.

This year over 32,000 tree seedlings have already been donated to organizations including Scouts Canada, Junior Forest Wardens, Forests Without Borders, College of the North Atlantic student planters, and various Lions Clubs chapters throughout the province and schools.

All seedlings are of high quality and produced at the Provincial Tree Nursery located at the Center of Agriculture and Forestry Development in Wooddale.
