A free, online resource to access digital maps of Newfoundland and Labrador is now available. The GIS and Mapping Division of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture has produced a digital map book that will be continuously updated using shared data from various provincial and federal government departments. Newfoundland and Labrador Maps is available in PDF format as a complete set of provincial maps. Users may also download single maps through an online web application.

The map book is launching GIS Day, an international celebration of the importance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a scientific framework for gathering, analyzing, and visualizing geographic data. On November 17, universities, government agencies, schools, nonprofits, and GIS professionals come together to build knowledge of GIS in communities and create understanding about the world we live in.

The GIS and Mapping Division is responsible for planning, developing and supporting GIS applications for the department, and uses GIS technology to create real-world applications that make a difference in our society, such as the Pandemic Data Hub, Air Photo Index and the Provincial Land Use Atlas.
