The House of Assembly Standing Committee on Public Accounts held a meeting today to discuss upcoming work in the First Session of the 50th General Assembly. The Committee also met with the Auditor General to discuss the Report on the MV Veteran and MV Legionnaire, and to get an update on the status of recommendations from previous reports.

The Report of the Auditor General on the MV Veteran and MV Legionnaire is the result of a request from the Public Accounts Committee to the Auditor General in March 2018 to undertake a review of the process used to purchase the two vessels and the number of concerns related to mechanical issues since they came into service. The Committee was briefed today by the Auditor General and is releasing the report publicly at this time. Next steps will be determined and a further update provided as the Committee progresses with its work on this and other matters.
