January 15, 2021

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced over $907,000 in program funding to support various companies with the development and marketing of new and innovative technologies in the supply and service sector.

Terrapure, PanGeo Subsea and AltoMAXX Technologies were approved for funding that focuses on growing and diversifying our province’s oil and gas supply and service capabilities. Support for these projects builds on priorities outlined in Advance 2030 – A Plan for Growth in the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas industry.

  • Terrapure – $545 892 is approved to assist with the development of an automated tank cleaning project. With increasing demands by sector operators to lower operating cost and improve overall performance, this funding will help Terrapure with increased operational efficiency and work site safety. With local operations in St. John’s and Foxtrap, Terrapure provides essential environmental and manufacturing services for industrial, commercial and institutional end markets. The company is matching the Provincial Government contribution.
  • PanGeo Subsea – $125,000 is approved to design, develop and test a proposed new trailing arm, called ‘GeoArm’. This innovative device will provide oil and gas clients with a more efficient and effective solution for reviewing shallow water site surveys. Funding will allow the company to offer clients a full ‘shore to platform’ solution, addressing the current needs of the oil and gas sector. PanGeo Subsea is a majority-held Newfoundland and Labrador company that specializes in advanced, high definition, 3D acoustic technology. The company is contributing $125,000 towards this project.
  • AltoMAXX Technologies – $89,000 is approved to support a proof of concept study for the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based laser methane leakage detector. This funding will support the company’s innovative solution that allows a laser methane leakage detector to be mounted on a UAV. Considered a Canadian UAV leader, AltoMAXX will utilize its technology to the benefit of the Newfoundland and Labrador oil and gas sector. The company is matching the Provincial Government contribution.

SubC Control and GFI Composites are receiving business development funding to support enhanced marketing and development opportunities.

  • Located in Clarenville, SubC Control is approved for $75,000 to assist with a digital marketing strategy including social media advertising, virtual trade shows and other promotional activities. SubC Control develops underwater camera systems that autonomously collect ultra-high resolution video footage and image data. The company is providing $25,000 towards this project.
  • GFI Composites is approved for $72,544 to assist the company with market development including professional technical advice. GFI Composites has been supplying safe and reliable fiberglass solutions to the oil and gas industry, construction industry, and mining industry for over 25 years. The company is contributing $24,181 towards the project.
