Provincial Government Announces Appointments to the Board of the Innovation and Business Investment Corporation

The Provincial Government today announced appointments to the Board of Directors of the Innovation and Business Investment Corporation.

The following individuals are appointed for a three-year term:

  • Mark Dobbin (Chairperson)
  • Mandy Woodland (Vice-Chairperson)
  • Peggy Bartlett
  • Lynn Morrissey
  • Joshua Quinton
  • Andy Turnbull

Biographies for the appointees can be found in the backgrounder below.

There are a total of nine individuals on the board, including these six appointments and three representatives of government.

The Board of Directors of the Innovation and Business Investment Corporation is responsible for making strategic funding investments related to innovation and business growth in the province to advance economic development.

The appointments are based on a recommendation provided by the Independent Appointments Commission.

BACKGROUNDER

Biographies of Innovation and Business Investment Corporation Board Members

Mark Dobbin – Chairperson
Mark Dobbin is the founder and President of Killick Capital Inc. A graduate of Memorial University’s Bachelor of Commerce (co-op) program, Mr. Dobbin also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie. In addition to his work with Killick he is very active in the community, serving on several not-for-profit boards, including Business and Arts NL, CDL Atlantic and Propel ICT.

Mandy Woodland – Vice-Chairperson
Mandy Woodland is an entrepreneur whose company Jellyfish works with progressive organizations to evolve and grow through innovation and design. She is the past Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Bounce Health Innovation and a trustee of the Canadian Museum of Nature. She holds a B.Sc. (Biology) from Memorial University, LL.B. from Dalhousie University, and a Masters of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University.

Peggy Bartlett
Peggy Bartlett is President of Bartlett Enterprises Inc., a private consulting and business investment company in Grand Falls–Windsor. Her career path has taken her thru community health nursing, independent business ownership (20+ years), and municipal politics. Ms. Bartlett has and continues to serve on numerous community, provincial and national boards, while providing mentorship and guidance to local business start-ups.

Lynn Morrissey
Lynn Morrissey is an Assistant Professor with Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration, overseeing the design of the business communications course and coordinating the teaching team. Since 2004, Ms. Morrissey has also been the Faculty Advisor for Enactus Memorial, a student volunteer organization on campus. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master of Business Administration from Memorial University.

Josh Quinton
Josh Quinton is an Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy. Mr. Quinton spent 10 years as an award-winning global business manager, having advised multinational corporations, pensions, hedge funds, central banks as a manager at Bloomberg, a financial technology firm. Mr. Quinton serves on the boards of Grenfell Association of America, Shorefast and Health Accord NL. He holds a Master’s in International Economics from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University.

Andy Turnbull
Andy Turnbull is the Chief Executive Officer of the Nunacor Development Corporation, the Indigenous business development entity of the NunatuKavut Community Council. Mr. Turnbull has a Bachelor of Arts in French and Business from Memorial University and was inducted into the Atlantic Business Magazine Top 50 CEO Hall of Fame in October 2020.
