Quotes
“This committee will rely heavily on the experience of voters as it works to suggest amendments to the Elections Act, 1991. A public engagement process will be announced in the coming weeks and months as details are finalized. I am looking forward to working with the committee, stakeholders, and the public to ultimately make changes in the best interest of residents of the province.”
Honourable John Hogan, QC
Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General

“We are pleased with the initial meeting held with Minister Hogan on this important committee. We are also happy to see a third member of the PC caucus named to this committee. The initial meeting focused on how public engagement in the committee’s work will take place, which will be key in hearing the concerns of the people unable to participate in our democracy during the 2021 general election.”
Barry Petten
Opposition House Leader and MHA for the District of Conception Bay South

“Key to our democracy is the ability to select those who represent us, including in the House of Assembly. I look forward to participating in this modernization of the Elections Act committee, as our province strives for integrity and accessibility.”
Perry Trimper
Independent MHA for the District of Lake Melville
