Provincial Government Recognizes World Town Planning Day

Today, the Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, is recognizing World Town Planning Day. The minister joined the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Professional Planners virtually for their annual celebration.

Minister Howell highlighted the valuable relationship between the Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs and the association. Professional planners play an integral role in long-term planning to address regional and municipal plans.

Today is an opportunity to recognize the important contributions made by land use planners in the department and across the province as the Provincial Government moves toward long-term solutions to address infrastructure, economic development and the effects of climate change in municipalities.

Since 1949, World Town Planning Day has been recognized as an international day celebrating the accomplishments of planners and the contributions to their communities. The day highlights the integral role of municipal planners have in supporting for strong and sustainable communities for residents of the province.
