Public Advisory: Temporary Air Services Arranged for Bell Island

Due to inclement weather on the northeast Avalon impacting the ferry service to and from Bell Island, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has arranged air services for the transportation of goods, supplies, and residents, beginning today, Friday, February 12.

Priority will be given to:

  • Essential goods and supplies, such as groceries and medications;
  • Essential workers travelling to and from the island;
  • Patients travelling for medical reasons, such as doctor’s appointments; and
  • Passengers transporting essential goods.

Helicopter service will travel between St. John’s International Airport, Hangar 4, and the dock on Bell Island.

The Bell Island ferry service will resume when weather conditions improve and the ferries are able to travel safely.
