Public Advisory: Portion of CN Viaduct to be Temporarily Closed for Maintenance

  • Transportation and Infrastructure

April 9, 2021

The westbound lanes of the CN Viaduct on Pitts Memorial Drive leading from downtown St. John’s will be temporarily closed tonight (Friday, April 9) beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The department anticipates the lanes reopening later in the evening.

On March 26, the bridge deck was slightly elevated to allow for concrete repairs. Tonight, the bridge deck will be lowered to its original position. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists travelling in the area and crews working on the viaduct.

There will be no disruption to traffic heading into the downtown area.

Updates will be provided as they become available on www.nl511.ca and the NL 511 smartphone app.
