The vessel was damaged Tuesday, May 11 while approaching the wharf at Farewell. One of the vessel’s thrusters stopped operating due to an electrical issue and the vessel struck the wharf. Repairs have been ongoing since that time.

While the vessel is out of service, four fixed-wing aircraft trips per day will be available via air services to accommodate travellers:

Helicopter flights have also been arranged for anyone travelling between Fogo Island, Changes Islands and Farewell. Flights will depart from the dock at each location, based on demand.

Residents are encouraged to contact 709-256-7484 for flights between Gander and Fogo Island and 709-466-2291 for helicopter flights.

Aircraft passengers will be required to wear masks at all times.
