Bridge, Culverts to be Replaced on Burin Peninsula Highway

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded three contracts totaling $3.46 million to replace a bridge and culverts on the Route 210, Burin Peninsula Highway.

A contract valued at $1.3 million has been awarded to Nortech Construction to replace the Main Brook Bridge located between Grand Bank and Marystown. The work includes demolishing the existing bridge; constructing a temporary road diversion; installing culverts, concrete foundations, and retaining walls; and paving.

The department anticipates this work being completed this construction season.

Contracts have also been awarded to Farrell’s Excavating and G & R Contracting, valued at $789,000 and $1.3 million, respectively, for slope stabilization on the highway near Fortune and, to replace culverts located between Frenchman’s Cove and Fortune, and to replace culverts at Come By Chance River near the highway’s intersection with the Trans-Canada Highway.

The department anticipates this work will also be completed this season.
