June 28, 2021

Work began today on repairs to the Cull’s Harbour Causeway Bridge on Route 310-13 near Traytown.

A contract valued at $199,000 was awarded to Bay By Bay Ltd. earlier this month to complete repairs.

Work includes the replacement of wooden and steel sections of the structure and paving sections of the road on each side of the bridge.

The bridge will be closed between 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily to allow for work to be completed as quickly and safely as possible. The bridge remains open to all pedestrians.

The maximum load limit was reduced to 5 tonnes from 25 tonnes earlier this month and will remain in place until the work is complete.

The department anticipates this work being completed by the end of July.

Additional details on this project and other highway construction projects are available on www.nl511.ca and the NL 511 smartphone app.
