September 16, 2021

The Public Procurement Agency is seeking input from the public and local businesses to help develop an Environmental Procurement Policy that will help guide Provincial Government procurement of goods and services with a reduced environmental impact.

Information collected through the engagement process will be used by the agency to ensure that the proposed policy considers the impacts it would have on the public, vendors and suppliers, and government departments.

Participants are asked to provide feedback on a variety of topics, including:

  • The public’s expectations regarding an Environmental Procurement Policy;
  • The potential impacts on existing suppliers; and
  • Balancing the need to provide environmentally-sustainable goods and services with cost, availability, quality and performance.

A What We Heard report will also be published, summarizing the results of the consultation.

The questionnaire is available at Engagenl.ca until Friday, October 8. Written submissions are being accepted until Monday, October 18 by email to markdrover@gov.nl.ca or regular mail:

“Every action we take to reduce the impacts of climate change matters. We continue to implement energy efficiency initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and we all stand to benefit – businesses, industry, the economy and families. An Environmental Procurement Policy is another step in our work to support the development of a green economy and to move the province forward both environmentally and economically.
Honourable Bernard Davis
