Applications are now being accepted for the spring 2022 semester for the K-6 Mathematics Bursary. The deadline for spring applications is June 30, 2022.

Through the Education Action Plan, released in 2018, the Provincial Government introduced a math bursary for K-6 teachers to build capacity and enhance math education in primary and elementary schools.

The Department of Education welcomes applications from administrators and teachers who work with K-6 students, including replacement and substitute teachers.

Since 2018, more than $260,000 has been invested in mathematics professional learning opportunities for school administrators, classroom teachers and specialists, including $65,750 in bursaries for more than 100 K-6 teachers.

More information on the bursary program, including the application form is available here.

Quotes
“We know that primary and elementary teachers are always looking to sharpen skills and develop effective instructional strategies based on how their students learn. The mathematics bursary helps teachers to access professional learning opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field. I encourage all interested primary and elementary teachers to apply.”
Honourable Tom Osborne
Minister of Education

“I would strongly recommend the Mathematics Bursary Program. It has certainly allowed me to reflect on different aspects of my math teaching and made me more aware of how the students are influenced by the new ways of learning.”
Charlene Hillier
