Supporting Winter Tourism Initiatives in Clarenville and Area

A notable destination for winter enthusiasts, Clarenville and area attracts visitors with a variety of outdoor recreation activities, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. To enhance the region’s overall winter tourism product and experience, the Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada are investing more than $562,000 in two projects.

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced a contribution of $93,750 for Alpine Development Alliance Corporation, operators of White Hills Resort, to assist with equipment upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Minister Parsons also announced a contribution of $110,666 for the Clarenville Nordic Ski Club for the purchase of new equipment for its trail network. The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, is providing $243,750 toward the White Hills Resort initiative and investing $114,000 in the Clarenville Nordic Ski Club project.

Winter tourism is important to economic development in Clarenville and area. This support from the Federal and Provincial Governments will allow Alpine Development Alliance Corporation to improve operational efficiencies at the White Hills Resort and enable the Clarenville Nordic Ski Club to better maintain its high-quality offerings, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Alpine Development Alliance Corporation is a not-for-profit social enterprise that consists of representatives from various community and municipal organizations. The Clarenville Nordic Ski Club was incorporated in 1989 and has been in operation for nearly 50 years.
