Premier Furey Announces Legacy Gift to the East Coast Trail Association in honour of the 2022 Royal Tour of Canada

The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced a $10,000 legacy gift to the East Coast Trail Association in commemoration of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to Newfoundland and Labrador in celebration of The Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The East Coast Trail Association was chosen as the recipient of a legacy gift as its values are in line with Their Royal Highnesses’ interest in environmental sustainability. The East Coast Trail Association values environmental stewardship by preserving the natural wilderness and values sustainability by nurturing community support and growing charitable giving to sustain its network of trails.

The mental and physical benefits derived from outdoor recreation can help improve the quality of life for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. The East Coast Trail supports residents of the province while attracting visitors from around the world by providing places of tranquility and recreation and an opportunity to be inspired by the power and importance of nature.

Newfoundland and Labrador was the first province to welcome Their Royal Highnesses as part of their 2022 Royal Tour of Canada.
