Public Advisory: Upcoming Youth Hunting and Angling Education Workshops

The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture, Wildlife Habitat Canada, and the Friends of Salmonier Nature Park are working with local rod and gun clubs and other community organizations to host hunting and angling education workshops for youth ages 12 to 17 at the following locations:

  • June 25: John’s Rod and Gun Club, Holyrood
  • July 30: Upper Humber Rod and Gun Association, Deer Lake
  • August 6: Notre Dame Rod and Gun Club, Lewisporte
  • August 27: Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Shooting Range, Happy Valley-Goose Bay

The workshops include hands-on learning opportunities that focus on wildlife conservation, hunting and firearm safety, shooting basics, archery, outdoor survival, orienteering, and wildlife identification. Participants will learn new skills in a safe environment, with coaching and supervision from qualified instructors and volunteers. A parent or guardian must accompany participants.

Pre-registration is required for each workshop. Participant numbers will be vary and be based on capacity and other factors.
