The Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, announced today that 181 projects have been approved for Municipal Come Home Year Celebration Grants.

In November 2021, the Provincial Government announced $250,000 to support the newly created grant for municipalities and Inuit Community Governments. The application period closed in mid-December. To support the high level of interest in the new initiative and the number of applications received, funding was increased to approximately $355,000.

The Municipal Come Home Year Celebration Grants will assist communities in preparing for Come Home Year celebrations. Grants of up to $2,000 were available for individual municipal applications and up to $2,500 to each community for regional applications.

A list of approved projects is available here.

Quote
“It is wonderful to see the high level of interest and so many communities taking advantage of the Municipal Come Home Year Celebration Grant. Now more than ever, it is important to take time to reconnect with family and friends, those coming home to visit, and making every effort to welcome potential newcomers to work and live in Newfoundland and Labrador. Municipalities and Inuit Community Governments can now complete projects in their areas that will beautify their communities or create initiatives to encourage people to visit.”
