Virtual Information Sessions for New Municipal Conduct Act to Begin This Month

The Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, announced today that virtual information sessions for the new Municipal Conduct Act will take place later this month. The schedule is:

  • February 22, 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
  • February 23, 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
  • February 24, 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

The information sessions are for municipal elected officials and municipal administrators, and will provide details regarding new provisions under the Act, next steps and an opportunity for questions from the municipal sector.

Registration forms for the virtual sessions are available here. To register for a session, send a completed form to MAPATraining@gov.nl.ca.

The Municipal Conduct Act was introduced and received Royal Assent during the fall 2021 sitting of the House of Assembly. The Act will govern conflict of interest, ethical behaviour and professional conduct for all municipalities across the province.
