The Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, recently joined Sherry Gambin-Walsh, MHA for Placentia – St. Mary’s, and members of the Town Council of Colinet and the Colinet Loggers Heritage Society to view renovations to the society’s building which has been recommissioned into the Fergus and Fred Linehan Heritage Centre.

The Provincial Government contributed $30,000 toward upgrades to the building.

The Colinet Loggers Heritage Society was formed in 2017 to research and preserve the historic and cultural heritage of Colinet. The society has worked to develop the building into a cultural arts center, collecting artifacts and photos of the town’s history as well as hosting concerts and dances throughout the year in the building.

“The Colinet Loggers Heritage Society is very proud and thankful for the much needed help through a great partnership with the Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs. With this assistance, we have completed the final exterior renovations to the Fergus and Fred Linehan Heritage Centre. Other renovations, through the work of dedicated volunteers, the Colinet Loggers Car Show fundraiser and monthly events at the centre, include a new roof, windows, siding, band stage and upgraded basement. We thank all those involved for helping to save the heritage building from ruin.”
