The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, is congratulating local outdoor adventure operator Rugged Edge on winning the 2021 Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations Excellence Award for Outstanding Snowmobile Tourism Promotion and Development.
The Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations Excellence Awards honour individuals, snowmobile clubs, and businesses in Canada that have made a significant contribution toward showcasing the popularity and the overall appeal of snowmobiling. The awards recognize those that have made a remarkable effort to promote solidarity and responsibility within the snowmobile community or who have offered exceptional quality of service to snowmobilers.
The Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations Excellence Award for Outstanding Snowmobile Tourism Promotion and Development, specifically, is awarded to an organization that has shown outstanding innovation and achievement in the development and implementation of a snowmobile tourism program or original initiative that has resulted in positive media recognition or increased participation from snowmobilers and/or non-snowmobilers.
Rugged Edge, owned by Craig Borden, is a multifaceted family-owned and managed business that has been operating out of Corner Brook for over 12 years. Mr. Borden and his team are heavily involved in the snowmobile community on a local and provincial level, and actively promote Newfoundland and Labrador as an attractive snowmobile tourism destination. In addition to this work, Rugged Edge provides financial donations to a number of clubs and associations, as well as many hours of volunteer time.
