January 31, 2022

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, announced today that the application deadline for the Cultural Economic Development Program for Come Home Year has been extended to Monday, February 7, 2022.

Up to $3.8 million in funding is available to help cultural partners and communities develop and deliver activities and experiences in support of Come Home Year. Eligible activities must explore the theme of home, a concept that can have different meanings for different people – from a place of community, culture and landscape, to a place of family, shelter, hope, safety and memories, both past and future.

Some examples of what would be considered an eligible activity include new or enhanced cultural programming, infrastructure upgrades to existing facilities and spaces, and legacy projects that demonstrate a lasting impact on the province. This funding will also be provided to support Indigenous projects and activities that involve the safeguarding of traditions and culture.

Information on the Cultural Economic Development Program and applications are available online.

“As we look toward the 2022 tourism season and remain hopeful for our Come Home Year plans, we’ve decided to extend the deadline to apply for funding through the Cultural Economic Development Program. This funding will enhance cultural tourism through activities for visitors, residents, and those coming home after quite some time away from their family, friends and communities. By extending the deadline, we’re ensuring that all those who are interested in this program will have the time to submit their applications.”
