Applications for the Indigenous Violence Prevention Grants Program are now open, and submissions will be accepted until November 7, 2022. Through these grants the Provincial Government supports Newfoundland and Labrador’s Indigenous Governments and Organizations in their efforts to prevent violence against Indigenous women, children, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and to engage Indigenous men and boys in the prevention of violence.

Funding for the 2022-23 Indigenous Violence Prevention Grants Program is made available through the Office of Women and Gender Equality. Since 2005, over $3.5 million in project funding has been awarded to Indigenous Governments and Organizations to assist with culturally appropriate violence prevention work in Indigenous communities.

Program guidelines, criteria, application form and contact information can be found here.

“The Provincial Government and its partners recognize there are many approaches to ending violence, including increasing awareness, offering education and training, and investing in leadership development and capacity building. Projects can also promote and assist in helping individuals address violence in a culturally appropriate manner. Thank you to all groups who advocate for women, children and their communities and for their work towards curtailing the incidence of violence.”
