The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate recently launched a Holiday Card Contest. The Contest received over 200 entries from young people here in the province.

“To say we are humbled by the tremendous response received throughout the province is an under-statement. Judging the entries was incredibly challenging. All of the artwork showed us the amazing talent and creativity of young people living in Newfoundland and Labrador. We hope they will continue to participate in our Young Artist Program by sending us more of their wonderful creations all year long.”

All of the entries will be profiled on our website www.office.ocya.nl.ca and our social media (X) @OCYANL over the holiday season. We sincerely thank everyone who submitted artwork. It is wonderful to see young people express themselves and their ideas in their artwork. All participants will receive a thank you package from our Office.

The winners of the Contest were Rosemary Parsons (under 12 years old) from Corner Brook and Emma Fitzpatrick (under 18 years old) from St. John’s. See the winning entries below.

Our province is truly blessed with artistic talent. We certainly saw that wonderful talent showcased in this Contest! The Office thanks young people, parents, caregivers, and teachers who supported this Contest.

We encourage children and youth in Newfoundland and Labrador to check out our ongoing Young Artist Program (www.childandyouthadvocate.nl.ca/for-young-people/young-artists/). We showcase the artwork received through this program on our website, social media, and other resource materials about young people’s rights.
