Cain’s Quest Participants are Off to the Races with Support and Well Wishes from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

Snowmobile teams from throughout Canada and Europe are making a return to Labrador for the first Cain’s Quest race since 2020. Beginning tomorrow (Saturday, March 4), 31 teams will embark on the challenging adventure through 3,000 kilometres of Labrador’s rugged terrain.

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs and MHA for Cartwright – L’Anse au Clair, will bring greetings at the official race start tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at Tanya Lake, Labrador City.

Cain’s Quest is the longest snowmobile race in the world, and is one of the most celebrated events in Labrador. It holds an important place in Labrador’s tourism landscape, assisting with rebuilding and revitalizing the industry by attracting teams and viewers from outside the province and country.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has been supporting Cain’s Quest since 2006, and has invested a total of $129,391 this year:

  • $80,891 through the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology’s Regional Development Fund;
  • $25,000 through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation’s Tourism Season Extension Program; and
  • $23,500 through the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills.
