The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to enforcement-related provisions, fines and penalties in the Wild Life Act, Endangered Species Act and applicable regulations.
The proposed legislative amendments aim to:
- Increase fines and penalties to create a stronger deterrence of illegal activities.
- Clarify and enhance legislative provisions related to conservation officer responsibilities.
- Modernize legislation for clarity and ease of interpretation.
- Enhance the protection of wildlife and endangered species in the province.
Feedback will be accepted until Thursday, January 11, through an online questionnaire available at engageNL or via email to shelleymoores@gov.nl.ca . Written submissions may also be mailed to:
