The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Health and Community Services, and members of the department’s recruitment team will be travelling to communities in Saskatchewan on October 3 to recruit health care professionals to work in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Minister Osborne will be available to media at Confederation Building, East Block, tomorrow (September 28) at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the recruitment trip.
Recent highlights of the department’s recruitment strategy include:
- More than 40 physicians have agreed to work in the province since the start of the fiscal year (April 1, 2023); and
- More than 200 internationally-educated nurses have been recruited to the province.
Budget 2023 included the largest ever investment in health care, with more than $23 million in funding for health care recruitment and retention efforts.
