Marble Mountain Ski Resort Welcomes International Journalists

From March 12 to 19, the Town of Steady Brook and Marble Mountain Ski Resort are hosting journalists from around the world for the 68th annual Ski Club International des Journalistes conference. This event is bringing more than 90 international media from 20 different countries to western Newfoundland for a week of skiing, local site visits, community engagement and more. To assist the town with hosting this international conference, the Provincial and Federal Governments are contributing a total of $77,000.

This conference, a collaboration between the Town of Steady Brook, Marble Mountain Ski Resort and the Ski Club International des Journalistes, offers club members the opportunity to experience and engage in western Newfoundland’s unique offerings, promoting global media coverage of one of the world’s best winter destinations.

The Department of Industry, Energy and Technology is contributing $25,000 through the Regional Development Fund to support the Town of Steady Brook for this event. The Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills is providing $12,000, and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation is contributing $10,000 through its Travel Media Program. The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, is investing $30,000.

Since 1955, the Ski Club International des Journalistes has visited more than 74 ski resorts around the world, generating sought-after international media coverage in its member’s respective media print, broadcast and digital entities.
