Today the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes the International Transgender Day of Visibility and celebrates the progress and achievements of people who are transgender throughout the province.

This day is marked around the world as a day to lift up transgender communities and acknowledge the discrimination that is still often felt by many transgender people.

The Provincial Government condemns hate of all kinds, and is committed to ensuring that Newfoundland and Labrador is a safe, accessible and inclusive place for people of all gender identities.

As the province continues to grow and evolve, it is more important than ever to celebrate the diversity of the individuals who help make Newfoundland and Labrador such a vibrant place to live, work and play.

Quote

“Today is an important reminder that we should continue to promote respect and inclusivity, and stand up to hate and discrimination. Our government supports the transgender community in Newfoundland and Labrador. Every person should be able to live safely and freely as their most authentic self.”
