The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED
New Harbour Agriculture Development           (Reg. 2298)
Proponent: Melissa Williams

The Proponent is proposing to develop approximately 23 hectares of land for agriculture use near New Harbour, Trinity Bay. The land would be used to produce hay, strawberry plants, fruit trees and root vegetables. Development would include removal of trees, stumps and rocks, levelling, and the addition of soil amendments. The undertaking was registered on April 10, 2024; the deadline for public comment is May 16, 2024; and the minister’s decision is due by May 25, 2024.

Rocky River Recreational Cottage and Access Trail            (Reg. 2299)
Proponent: Steven Reddick

The Proponent is proposing to construct a recreational cottage and a 1.3-kilometre access trail along the Rocky River, south of the community of Markland, off Route 81.  Development would include construction of the cottage, and land clearing for both the cottage and trail. Bottled water would be brought onsite as a water supply and no septic system installation is proposed. The undertaking was registered on April 11, 2024; the deadline for public comment is May 16, 2024; and the minister’s decision is due by May 26, 2024.
