To support business growth and client development, the Honourable Andrew Parsons, KC, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, today announced $20,000 in funding through the Business Development Support Program for Port Rexton Brewing Company Ltd.
Port Rexton Brewing has been in business since 2016 when co-owners Sonja Mills and Alicia McDonald started a small taproom in Port Rexton. To meet demand, soon after start-up they expanded their operation to include a state-of-the-art production facility, creating several full-time and seasonal jobs in rural Newfoundland.
Today the company produces more than 40 different products which are distributed to about 130 retail customers including bars, Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation outlets and convenience stores. The company has been a leader in the craft beer sector through its innovative products, participation in annual marketing strategies and key advertising techniques.
This funding from the Provincial Government will be used for marketing initiatives. The company’s marketing will help continue to showcase Port Rexton Brewing as a major player and destination in one of the most popular tourism destinations in the province.
Through the Business Development Support Program, the Provincial Government supports small and medium-sized businesses that are committed to develop and grow their operations by improving operational productivity, focusing on trade opportunities and developing their markets.
