The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, is sharing his condolences following the passing of Denis Parker.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Denis Parker, who shared his love of music as a writer, teacher, player and singer of the blues in Newfoundland and Labrador for more than 50 years.

Denis was widely recognized as a trailblazer in the music industry and was inducted to the NL Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame in 2018.

As Executive Director of the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland and Labrador for 18 years, Denis was instrumental in supporting and developing young artists in this province.

On behalf of our province, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his colleagues in the music community.”
