Minister Crocker Announces Team NL Chef Team for the 2025 Canada Summer Games

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, is announcing the Team NL Chefs for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

The Chef Team, which is comprised of the Chef de Mission and Assistant Chefs de Mission, is appointed by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation. The team provides planning, leadership and operational support for Team NL, in partnership with Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, prior to and during the Games.

The Chef de Mission for Team NL will be Jamie Randell. Working alongside the Chef will be Assistant Chefs de Mission Frank Humber, Allison Sturge and Mike Summers. Biographies for each of the individuals are provided in the backgrounder below.

The 2025 Canada Summer Games Team NL Mission Staff will be announced in the coming weeks. Team NL Mission Staff act as a liaison between designated sport team(s), the Chef Team and the host society performing several roles, which support their designated sport team.

The 2025 Canada Summer Games are taking place in St. John’s from August 8-24, 2025. The Canada Games are the country’s largest amateur multi-sport event and is held every two years, alternating between summer and winter events.

Biographies for the 2025 Canada Summer Games Team NL Chef Team

Jamie Randell
Jamie Randell has over 20 years of experience in the sporting world as an athlete and volunteer coach. She has extensive Canada Games experience, as a member of Team NL’s Mission Staff at the Canada Games in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017 and a member of the Chef Team at the Canada Games in 2022 and 2023. She was an athlete at the 1995 Canada Winter Games and was an Assistant Coach with the women’s hockey team at the 1999 Canada Winter Games.

Allison Sturge
Allison Sturge has extensive Canada Games experience with Team NL. She was an athlete in 1999 and a member of Team NL’s Mission Staff six times from 2011 through 2023. She has previously coached provincially for Team NL hockey and continues to coach with the Northeast Avalon Minor Hockey Association. Allison will also be volunteering with the Mount Pearl Marlins swim team this year.

Frank Humber
Frank Humber was a member of the Team NL Mission Staff for four Canada Games from 2001 through 2015. He was also Assistant Chef de Mission in 2017 and 2019. Frank has been a member of the Sport NL Board of Directors for two terms and is a longtime coach and volunteer for various sports in the province. Frank was also a member of the Canada Games Council Technical Bid Review committee for the 2025 Games.

Mike Summers
Mike Summers has over 30 years of experience in the sporting community through coaching, officiating and volunteering with Boxing NL and Boxing Canada. Mike also participated in the Canada Games as both an official and an athlete and has been a member of Team NL mission staff a number of times. Mike is also a hockey coach with various teams in the Northeast Eagles Association, the Don Johnson Hockey League and the Doug Marshall Hockey League.
