Demolition of the nurses’ residence at the site of the former Grace Hospital on LeMarchant Road in St. John’s officially gets underway today. Since the contract was awarded to Inflector Environmental Services in July of last year, hazardous material abatement and disposal has been underway.

A photo opportunity and media availability with the Honourable John G. Abbott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, will take place today at 2:00 p.m. at the site.

All media attending must wear personal protective equipment. Transportation and Infrastructure will supply hard hats and safety vests. However, media must supply their own safety boots. Media must confirm their attendance beforehand by emailing mbrowne@gov.nl.ca.
