June 25, 2026

As the Advocate for Children and Youth of Newfoundland and Labrador, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize all students on the completion of the 2025-26 school year.

I know that each new school year brings excitement, and perhaps some uncertainty about what the year will bring, and I am so proud of each and every one of you for doing your best all year long. You have all earned your summer break!

I would also like to acknowledge the teachers, guidance counsellors, school staff, parents, guardians, and all those who supported students throughout the school year. You are all critical in ensuring young people can exercise their right to an education.

I wish you all a joyful, relaxing, and safe summer filled with lots of fun and memories that last a lifetime.

All children and youth have the right to a good quality education. They should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level they can.
