The Honourable Paul Dinn, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, announced today approximately $1.4 million in funding to support the Kids Eat Smart Foundation.
Minister Dinn joined Trent Langdon, Chair of Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador, to make the announcement at the foundation’s launch of Kids Eat Smart Week at East Point Elementary in St. John’s.
The Provincial Government continues to support the Kids Eat Smart breakfast program, which provides access to breakfast at school at no cost to families in Newfoundland and Labrador. Government’s funding grant for the Kids Eat Smart Foundation will help ensure students have access to healthy and nutritious food to start their day at school.
The Kids Eat Smart Foundation has 275 Kids Eat Smart Clubs in the province at schools and community centres. The foundation serves 47,000 breakfast meals every school day, reaching 6.3 million meals each school year.
