Premier Wakeham Announces Senior Appointment

The Honourable Tony Wakeham, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, announced a senior appointment today.

Craig Foley is appointed as Deputy Minister of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, effective September 28, 2026.

BACKGROUNDER

Craig Foley brings more than 25 years of dedicated leadership and experience to Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism sector. He most recently served as the chief executive officer of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador and worked closely with stakeholders across the tourism industry and communities to strengthen business operations, advance strategic priorities, and foster long-term economic growth.

Throughout his career, Mr. Foley has held significant leadership roles within the tourism industry, including chair of the Provincial and Territorial Tourism Industry Associations, executive director of Tourism Quality Assurance of Newfoundland and Labrador, and board member of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.

Mr. Foley holds a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University and recently completed the ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors.
