“Today, we remember Elizabeth Joanne Murphy, a woman whose lifetime of service, leadership, and achievement made Newfoundland and Labrador a better place.

“Elizabeth devoted more than 40 years of her life to serving the House of Assembly as Assistant Clerk, providing steady guidance, expertise, and dedication in support of our province’s democratic process. Her career reflected a deep commitment to public service and to the institution she served so faithfully.

“Elizabeth will also be remembered for her many contributions beyond public service, including her achievements in women’s golf, her advocacy for greater opportunities for women in the sport, and her commitment to her community.

“On behalf of our government and all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, I extend my sincere condolences to her family, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched.”
