Registration for the spring 2026 Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop will open on April 7. Priority will be given to new applicants who apply between April 7-9 to give first-time participants an opportunity to register. This year’s event will be held at Burry Heights on Salmonier Line from May 29-31, 2026.

BOW offers eye-opening, hands-on experiences in outdoor pursuits that build skills, confidence and community. Participants choose four programs from 26 options to build their individualized weekend experience. Courses include introduction to firearms and archery, outdoor cooking, fishing basics, hiking and backpacking, chainsaw safety, and more.

Qualified volunteer instructors join staff from the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands to conduct courses with an aim to ensure all participants have a safe and positive educational experience.

BOW is designed for individuals 18 years and older and promotes an accessible, inclusive and respectful environment for all participants. No experience is necessary, and all fitness levels are accommodated. A $295-registration fee covers all meals, accommodations and course materials.
