Minister Forsey Announces Support for Fire Protection Vehicles and Fire Equipment

The Honourable Pleaman Forsey, Minister of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands, today announced over $531,000 in funding to support the purchase of a fire protection vehicle and fire equipment, reinforcing the Provincial Government’s commitment to safer communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Provincial Government is investing:

  • $444,349 for a new fire truck for the Pasadena Fire Rescue.
  • $53,878 for fire equipment for the Steady Brook-Little Rapids Regional Fire Department.
  • $21,345 for fire equipment for the Bay St. George’s South Volunteer Fire Department.
  • $11,513 for fire equipment for the St. George’s Fire Department.

Minister Forsey was joined by Hal Cormier, MHA for St. George’s-Humber; Kevin Garnier, acting fire chief for Pasadena Fire Rescue; and representatives of the Steady Brook-Little Rapids Regional Fire Department, the Bay St. George’s South Volunteer Fire Department and the St. George’s Fire Department.

This investment will strengthen fire protection services on the province’s west coast, enhance emergency response capabilities and support volunteer fire departments in protecting residents and communities.

Budget 2026 provides more than $7 million to support volunteer fire departments through investments in equipment, supplies and training to help keep residents and communities safe.
