The Honourable Mike Goosney, Minister of Government Services, Minister of Labour and Minister Responsible for WorkplaceNL, will attend the National Day of Mourning ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday, April 28).

Organized by the St. John’s and District Labour Council, the ceremony takes place at the Emera Innovation Exchange Signal Hill Campus, 100 Signal Hill Road, St. John’s, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

The National Day of Mourning is observed annually on April 28 to remember those who have died, been injured or suffered illness due to a work-related incident. The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by workers and their loved ones and encourages a focus on accident prevention and safer work environments. It is an opportunity for governments, employers and workers to reaffirm their commitment to improving occupational health and safety to prevent further deaths, injuries or illnesses.
